I have several sets and a lot of singles, empty and full. One thing they all have in common is that they need to be rebuilt. In ten years od so of collecting batteries, I've yet to see any parts. Battery parts and battery rebuilding tools were commonly offered in a lot of early electric supply catalogues. But it appears that all of this stuff has disappeared. I've toyed with the idea of trying to get components from one of the many battery companies, but feel that these components would be too different and way smaller than the plates that would be needed in to build the rather large cells that were common to early gensets, although it is concievable that it could be done. Maybe a company that rebuilds the larger commercial type batteries would be of some help. I saw one of these in Columbus Ohio recently, but my schedule didn't allow me to stop and say hello.

Gus,

Thank you for taking the time to respond, and for the info. It looks like there is a need for parts and materials to rebuild these batteries. I am going to start in that direction. I think I have most everything to do it. It goes along with my other hobbies and projects.

I was looking at the title of this thread and most batteries are heavy, not "light".

I do not envy you as to your battery rebuild project. Its got to be a little messy.
