Hello Rich As an aircraft mechanic I am somewhat familiar with the Eisman magneto. Honestly from my experience they were a problem on airplanes also. Most of the time on airplanes they had alot of problems with cracked coils that would get condensation in them and misfire or get hot and arc out internally and just quit working. I have no idea where you are located but would suggest that if you have a 4 cylinder magneto if you would go to an airport where they have some old fellows hanging around that work on antique airplanes they might be able to help you with your magneto. It would not surprise me that you might even find that they have some old Eismans laying around that you could get parts from. Hope that this helps

In addition to the Eisman, Kohler also used Scintilla and Bosch Mags. Suggest that you might look around for the Bosch as it seems to be the most common, altough it was used mainly on later models.

Thanks for the help- I am now looking at the points as my problem, they realy looked bad and sence they were the only part that I did not have a replecement for I am hoping when I get them cleaned up that it will do the trick.I will have to file them a lot to get the pitts out-I am not sure if doing this will cut away a coating that I need or not -butt hear goes. Thanks again Rick

The old gas caterpillar tractors had the eiseman mags as original equimpment. How ever parts are a little hard to find. So you see bosh and wico mags on them. I don't know what your set up uses. But on cats the micarda spacer/driver was either 1/2" long or an 1" long due the hole spacing on the botton of the mag. This might be the same for you. If you don't have the right one they are easy to make if you have access to a small lathe or mill. I had to make one for my cat. Both of my cat model 20's have the bosh mags. I have an extra wico sitting on the shelf if I ever need it.
