anyone run across one of these before? its all there and loose,Engine is a little 4 cycle laying about 45 deg, air cooled, Gas tank is the base, carb has spring loaded choke plate like a Fairbanks Morse. Sr B9412, type BD6, S.S. 811, vdc 7.5 200 Watts, vac 110 800 watts, 1800 rpm 60cycle. Was wondering 2what type of engine this was so I could see about parts before starting dissassembly. Thanks Al

Al, I don't have any info on these, but if it's like most of the Blue Diamonds I've seen, your's should be almost identical to a Pioneer Gen-E-Motor (mod. BD,6)and Johnson Iron Horse (mod.EG-1)that I have. I do know that the engines on mine are Iron Horse. There was an article in GEM a while back on these engines. Pioneer made generators based on a few different engines, I have another with a Briggs on it. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe Pioneer and Iron Horse may have been in cahoots. I.E.: Pioneer made the generators and Iron Horse made the engine and both companies marketed the under their respective names, much like the Western Electric, Fuller and Johnson relationship. Or maybe it was Iron Horse and Blue Diamond. Or maybee....

I hauled one home from the local flea market today. Mine has a generator marked EICOR on it with the little iron horse engine. The old gentleman that I bought it from told me a little about it.He said it works great, just ad gas and it will work. Mine has a starter on it 6 volts. It must be incorporated into the generator. I got it home and messed around with it enough to realize that it will need to have some carb/ignition work done to it before it will run. Did you have any luck with getting yours to run?

Ken: Runs great, the previous owner had grounded the coil and the points were in need of cleaning and adjusting, carburator cleaned, fuel lines blown out and the gas tank cleaned and a sealer put in to keep the floaters in place, cleaned and reseated the brushes and cleaned the slip ring and fired it off. Will send picture, depending what parts you need a good source is martin.pope @sympatico.ca he has a supply of iron hore parts and is very knowledegable on the type.Al

I was given a Gas-o-lectric Plant generator s/n 7957 type BLA 10. She is in nice shape. She is all there and runs. She's a bit rusty but I can deal with that. Can anyone please give me some history or imformation on this unit.

Thank You
