Default onan gen.

hi, I have an air cooled 1 cyl. onan gen A.C. 110 volt 60 cyc. I need a manual for it, does anyone have copy of one? I realy need to know what the contacts on the block do.They are operated by the camshaft. This engine is 2.75 bore. The only # I have is 374130, they are stamped in block below and off the side near the valve cover. How about age? Thanks,

Bill

Bill,

I have a Fairbanks Morse air cooled generator that is actually made by Onan. The model # looks like 10L-3. I am not sure on the "L" because it was not stamped completely. It turns at 1800 RPM. It has the contacts I believe you are talking about. They are to compensate for flicker caused by the slower RPM's as the rotor cuts between poles. They cut a resistance in and out of the field circuit that is timed so that it will compensate for the fluctuation. Sorry, I don't have a manual. I hope this helps.

Bill,

I may not have told you the truth. After reading your reply it occurred to me that I do have some literature on my plant. Mine is a 1000 watt unit. You haven't specified what yours is. A friend had an Onan engine book and it covered the engine on my plant and I copied the appropriate pages. He also had an Onan book that covered a plant similar to mine and I copied that. Between the two of them I pretty much have it covered. I have restored my plant and it works great. However I haven't touched it in almost a year. When I wrote to you I had forgotten about the books. Let me know if you think yours is the same or close and I will try to get the material to you. Now all I have to do is find it!

Tom, I do not have a clue as to what size mine is other than the 2.75 in. piston all tags are missing. Please copy and send to me and tell me what I owe you. Thanks Bill
