Default old Kohler radiator

I found an old brass Kohler radiator- looks like one from a light plant circa 1948. I'm not a collector but would like it to go to someone interested. OK condition.

I have two of those radiators for one engine I am fixing up, but they both have some dents in the upper tank. How does one fix dents without endangering the radiator more?

Hi Russel, I would be interested in purchasing the radiator if the expansion tank on top is free of dents.

I havent laughed so hard in A long time. The more Kohler light plants I see the more I realize that if you find one with A dozen dents in the top tank its A virgin. The only perfect one I ever saw had so much Bondo in it that the guy that owned it wouldent run it for fear if cracking the tank. It looked nice though.

I had to recore a Kohler radiator for a 1.5 KVA 4 cylinder plant, and the job is a real BEAR! I unsoldered the radiator's steel sides, removed the top and bottom tank, and carefully cleaned all the parts I wanted to reuse. I cut down an old tube & fin core to size, and resoldered all with the tanks bolted to the engine to ensure that all would line up OK on reassembly. The bonus in all this is with the top tank off the core, I could do a really nice job of dent pulling. That tank looks like new, now! This is not a job for the faint-hearted, or the impatient type! But the results are worth it. Cheers, --- Henry
