Default Hobart welder-generator

I have a Hobart Model G213, 200 amp welder with a 3kw generator powered by a 2 cylinder Wisconsin engine. The engine runs good but I have no power output--NONE. I've been told something about flashing the generator to restore the magnetic field, but have no idea how to go about it. The unit appears to be in nice shape, the brushes are all free and the armature they ride on is clean. Your thoughts, Please. Al

I'm not sure if this will work on a Hobart, but it does on Lincolns. Remove the exciter cover and while the machine is running, pull one of the exciter brushes back a few thousanths till it is arcing to the commutator. Hold it there for a few seconds. This should get the machine working.

I ALSO HAVE A HOBART 200 AMP MODEL G-213. THERE IS A COIL THAT LOOKS LIKE IT IT IS BRASS WITH FIVE WIRES RUNNING TO IT. IT HAS CERAMIC SPACERS IN BETWEEN THE COILS. I THINK THAT IT CONTROLS THE HEAT RANGE BUT I AM NOT SURE. WHAT IS THIS PART CALLED? AND CAN I GET A REPLACEMENT FOR IT? MINE BROKE AND I FIXED IT,BUT I AM NOT SURE HOW LONG IT WILL LAST.

We tried to purchase the ceramiic spacers for the same welder 2 0r 3 years ago aand they were no longer available. Miller purchased the hobart welding line and basically puts the hobart name on miller products Their website is millerwelds.com you can try and see if the coil is available.
