Kohler generator

Hi all,

This is the most interesting site I have seen yet.

Question.I have a Kohler 15rmy generator that has the two electronic boards for regulation and excitation destroyed by mice. With these boards disconnected I get about 36v when 12 volts is connected to field. Windings check good.

What options do I have to make this generator work reliably without spending 1400 dollars for new boards?

This generator is old but the 4 cylinder Wisconsin purrs. Hope someone can help.
