kohler light plant model 3a21

I am trying to find a carburator for a Kohler light plant, model 3A21. My uncle uses it as a back up for his other Kohler as he is off the grid in Minerva, NY. The tag on the radiator indicates that it is 3 KW, 3.75 KVA, single phase, 60 cycle, at 1800 rpm. The sn is 130060 which I find from other internet sites indicates that it is circa 1948. Can anyone tell me if this is a good gen set to spend some time restoring and where I might look to get parts for these old timers.

I read you message and although I don't have the parts or know where there is a plant like you described, I can tell you that I grew up on a farm outside of Parry Sound, Ontario Canada in the 1960's-1980's and we had one until the power line came in around 1988.

You mentioned needing a carb, and it made me recall that the float on one of these machines was missing when we bought it but I recall finding a float from an old Clinton motor on a roto-tiller that we had and with very little modification it worked just fine.

These old plants ran wonderfully and were very reliable. We also had another 4 cylinder Kohler that only produced 1.5 KW but it ran at 1200 rpm. It was a great plant too. I spent many hours maintaining and repairing these old generators--out of necessity, at the time!
