Default Kohler "S"

I just became the proud owner of a Kohler model "S". Two cylinder, air cooled, 800 watt light plant. A couple of friends and I drug it out of a basement where has set all of it's life, since 1926. The fellow that I bought it from didn't remember that it was electric start, so he couldn't tell me what voltage the starting battery should be. I will be asking more questions in the future. I got the cardboard maintance chart off the wall but no book. Steve

I have four of them. It's a great little generator. Starting battery is 24 volt. Make sure that the brushes move freely on the comutator. There may be a kill switch next to the flywheel, just below where the sparkplug wires come out of the block. IT NEEDS TO BE PUSHED IN TO RUN. This unit is designed to start whenever there is a load of 40watts or more connected, and die when all load is removed. Hook up the battery, and a 100watt light bulb, and see what happens. By the way, the points, condencer, rotor, cap, and sparkplugs are the same as a Wisconsin TH, or THD.

Hi Bill Thanks for your response on my Kohler "S". I haven't had time to work with it yet, but am looking forward to spending time with all my generators this winter. To many projects and still trying to make a living also. Steve
