Hi I wotked for MISTER SOFTEE icecream co in the sixtys. All of the icecream trucks that had 2 soft icecream machines in the had Onan 10CW generators in them. There are still some of these trucks in service yet today. I wouls suggest that you try to contact a Mr Softee vender and see what he is doing for generator parts. Mr. Softee was/is located in Runnemede New Jersey. These generators weere all single Phase. Another icecream vending co. in Indianapolis where I live used a 10cw gen. that was 3 Phase. I hope that this helps. Surely, ( you know her), there are parts available somewhere. I have found ONAN to not be at all helpful on their older units for some reason!!!

Ed: I got lucky this summer, after buying a grande olde Onan 10HQ, powered with a Continental watercooled flathead, I discovered that Onan had been bought out by Cummins, and that Cummins is focusing on selling an excellent line of modern-day generators, but, hey after 45 years, who is going to stock brand new parts for your dinosaur??? BUT, I did find an Onan location in central NY state with employees who had worked with Onan before the transition and who were VERY HELPFUL in finding manuals and parts for my vintage generator. It wasn't a cheap excercise; in my passion to beat the system and buy those last remaining brushes and springs, I spent a lot of money. But it was worth talking to people who really cared. When I buy my next 250KW+ genset, I will buy it from that operation. I'll contact them to see what they can offer for your genset. Serial and data numbers for the engine, generator, and exciter will save a lot of time. Please post'em if you have'em. Harvey

I have worked for onan for 22 years. The factory does not have many of us old timers around.Parts for the CW would be hard to find because of its age.You will need to look around for old dealers and military junk yards sometimes you can find parts in stock.I have some info on old onans and can get prints.Be glad to help as I can.
