G.E. 40Volt /300Amp/ Arc Welder/Generator

Hello,

I acquired this old G.E. 40Volt /300Amp/ Arc Welder/Generator a few years ago less the Engine. The Former Power Plant was an Ford V8 Flatheat Engine approx 85 horse. Does anyone know of any literature on these types of Welders ??. Operators Manual...??

G.E. was of no help as they made these long ago. Actually it is a working one. But it was outside for a very long time. So after I cleaned the commutators from a nice moldy green color back to the more or less shiny copper color using household cleaning compound for pots and pans. Then it finally worked. The residual charge was already in place. I had used a 12 volt battery once to restore the charge by placing the electrodes on the batery terminals from another welder to which I had taken the whole armature out. After about a 1/2 hours, the armature had finally re-energized. Thank you. I can be reached at ... PGE1040089@hotmail.com
