Default Onan Help-replace or not?

I had a running single cyl genset till the diaphram in the fuel pump cracked and diluted the oil.I tore down the engine and found the rod bearing tight, not stuck.Oiled and worked it by hand and got it pretty free. There is still a place where it gets tight. What is your advise as too what to do next and where to look for parts if needed.Motor is frem 30's or 40's, cast iron flat head,no model number found, driving a gen of about 1kw. Thanks in advance. steve

There is a chance this engine is a Briggs and Stratton. Take a look at some old engine sites, also search this forum,I think a picture was posted here in the pase 3 months.

If the rod is tight when turning, it will seize up when running. Is the rod aluminum? Sometimes the rod cap can be cut then resized. The crank needs to be measured /ground before the rod in resized.

Also try the tech fourm at www.perr.com this is a good place to find info, but you will need a model # or other info. The regulars on the board have vast knowledge of air cooled Onans but don't have time to research a vague generator discription.
