Default Sears generator

I have a sears generator that has a wisconsin engine. This is a belt driven unit. What i need is a manual to show me some of the wiring. So that i can test it the engine runs real well after setting for about 10 years. But in the process of cleaning it up i got a box that contains a coil wet. It had power at first and then slowly quit. Did i burn up the main generating unit or maybe just the coil part. I am not sure what it is really called maybe a transformer. Any help please Thanks R.
