Need Info on 10kw Kurz & Root Generator

Greetings, I have just acquired a Military surplus Kurz&Root (Appleton WI) generator. Here is the data: USA-A Stk#6115-863-1498. S/N 560-1547, Model FERO-1 Mfg - 3/64, Ratings 1 & 3 ph 240/208vac, 10KW , 12.5kva. Under USA-C it lists model # 1700M1088, S/N 60-1547N619. D.C.Exciter 600w @17vdc @35A. PF 8 . The engine mfg is Hercules by Hupp Corp of Canton OH. spec:IBERX11, S/N 3667695, mfg 9/25/63, 4 cyl flathead gas Bhp 29.3. Mil Spec E 11275B. Requires 24vdc battery power. The unit is complete excepting tool kit and manual. It includes the lubricant heater assy. All attached schematic diagrams are readable. The unit has not been run in several years. The oil in crankcase looks clean. The exhaust is rotten. I plan to go through the fuel, ignition mag , and cooling systems, cleaning, lube ,etc. If anyone is familiar with this fine machine I would greatly appreciate hearing from you and learning from any advice you may care to offer. Parts sources, etc. would be appreciated. I do not want to tare into something I might regret. I am new to the site. Thanks for the posting. Regards, Bob

I have a kurtz & root mode lkr-10 ms generator unit minus the engine i'm trying to figure out how to get field excited to make it work i'm adapting a 58 h.p. diesel engine to it the unit rated to 3600 rpm any info would be much appreciated

i also just bought a kruz gen. a 1986 modle # mepoo6a powered by a allis chalmers 3500-a diesel. need to find opperators manual for the generator end. this is a militery unit # nsn 6115-00-118-1243.

I have the same gen set. Mine is a FSN # 6115-833-1498. Mine was built in March 1966. Good luck trying to find manuals . I have looked for many years without luck. The best bet would be if your data plates with the wiring schematics is still there. Try Afcon Products (they are the new owners of Kurz Root) for more info. 1-800-958-9920.
The hercules engine is easy to work on and parts are easy to find for the IXB series engines.

Hi, I just purchase the same generator 1965 manufactor date. Did you have any luck finding manuals? I do have all the wireing diagrams from the covers of the unit. Thanks, joe
