Default mep701a

i won this over at gov liquidation. anyone have a manual on pdf??

is it possible to convert it to 12 volt starting? can i just change the starter? or do i have to change the guages too? what else?

also does it use jumper cables, or can i put 2 12volt batteries in it???

Default mep701a,again, seriously...help

i picked it up, it runs. apparently it was mounted to a trailer (its not anymore) i see inside the cover that there are lugs, that are apparently to wore up 220....?? i see cable brackets and then down my the exhaust port there is another rubber grommet. i assume this was the output the army used on the trailer.

it has no output at the 110v civilian outlet. i can get it to 60hz by varying the throttle, and it looks like 150volts on the guage.

i dont mind working on it, as i drive a m715 usmc truck as a daily driver, and built it myself. i just have NO generator experiance

Default Re: mep701a,thanks for the help...

wow, thanks for all the emails. i checked output at l0, l1,l2,l3 and get nothing. yes the breaker is on. also it still says 60hz, 150volts and the voltage increae/decrease knob has NO effect

no power at the braker, or lugs.

if i connect a multimeter to the back of the volt guage, should it say what the front says?

Default it works!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, the fuse holder was bad on the front panel, the 120volt home socket now works. ok. in single phase 120 i get 120 at the socket, correct?

L0 is ? L1 is ? L2 is ? L3 is ?

what L terminals do i use for additional 120 output? do i use 1,2 or can i use 1 AND 2?

in 220 single phase, does the socket remain 120? or does it go to 220??

L0 is ? L1 is ? L2 is ? L3 is ?

say i want to power lots of stuff in 220 (the switch allows 120, or 220, not both) as well as three phase..... what l terminals do i use?

my multimeter seems to be acting up, but i dont want to fry the genset..

there should be a legend calling out the connections if not set the switch and use a known good meter. the question of 120/240 single phase has been seen before to my knowledge these do not put out split or byphase voltage. the simple solution is an isolation transformer 220 in 120/240 out problem solved.

yes if you wish to do a redesign simple solution 24 battery or 2 12 volt in series both will work depends on unit setup and space available.
Do you know the noise level or the engine manufacter or engine speed?
