Default Onan 12.0 MDJC Genset

Hi Folks,

I have an Onan 12.0 MDJC Genset that is only putting out 60 volts. It runs fine and doesn't bog down under load (although at 60 volts the lights are pretty dim!). Reving it up doesn't help either. I took it apart as far as I could but I haven't a clue what to check. Might anyone have any suggestions on narrowing down the problem.

Thanks! -Mike Novick (mike_novick@yahoo.com)

The voltage regulator is the most likely culprit. If you're lucky, the adjustment trimmers on it have gone intermittent. Carefully turn them a bit, making sure to set them back where they were. If you're not so lucky, the V/R may need to be replaced. Check here for a non-OEM cheaper alternative:

Buy Jim a beer! That was just the direction I needed. I had to knock the coarse adjustment around a bit to get is somewhere between 60 and off-the-scale. But then the fine trim brought it into a steady 110V. Many, many thanks... -Mike

Hi Billy,

Thanks for your input. Luckily it turned out to be a finniky voltage regultor.

Cheers,

-Mike
