Default MEP017A neutral/ground

I tapped into the selector switch at S1-2 for a neutral in the 240V 1ph mode as described in an earlier post. It works fine according to my multi meter. Is it safe to connect this neutral to the chassis ground? The neutral & ground are tied together in the house, so I'm guessing it would be ok, but just want to be sure before I screw something up.

IT'S NOT NECESSARY BECAUSE IT IS DONE IN THE HOUSE PANEL. IF YOU DO, MAKE SURE ALL THE COMPONENTS ARE BONDED TOGETHER. MANY OF THE COMPONENTS ARE MOUNTED ON RUBBER MOUNTS AND THEREFORE ISOLATED, ESPECIALLY THE GENSET ITSELF. ALL PARTS OF THE FRAME, GENERATOR, ENGINE, ENCLOSURE, TERMINAL OR CONNECTION BOXES, FUEL TANKS REGULATOR AND CONTROL BOXES ETC. MUST BE SECURELY BONDED TOGETHER.
