Default Craftsman Generator Parts

Help... I have an old Sears 7kw generator, Model 580.321460, and I am in need of replacing the plug in rectifer bridge that has fried. The maching is too old for Sears to cover and hate to have to buy a new generator just because of one cheap part.

You have a Generac generator (580.0000) made for Sears. Contact the Generac people. http://www.generac.com/

And if Generac is unable to help, one can assemble one if needed, or depending upon physical size, a discrete replacement might be an off the shelf item at low cost from a supplier like Mouser. I have been doing that route for years with many varied pieces of equipment.

Thanks for the great information, I am checking with Generac to see what they can do, if not, it looks like I might need to find a subsitute.

Below is the new # for the rectifier for a 4kw Sears, probably the same, available through Briggs, which owns Generac Portable Power. The link is for generac / Briggs dealers..
Mike

You can purchase a new rectifier, part #79569GS (NEW number!), through a local service dealer or through Sears Parts (800-366-7278).
The dealers nearest to you can be located at this link:

If it is the square type bridge rectifier with four terminals you can buy them at Radio Shack. I have also salvaged them from some junk video cassette recorder that use them.

First post, and I thought I would resurrect this old thread. I ran across the same problem with a bad rectrifier in my 580.32402 1200 watt Sears generator. After many fruitless parts inquirys with Briggs and Stratton as well as Generac, I found two places that do carry this plug in rectifier.
parts@cliffordpower.com
admin@aidistributors.com
This part fits many, many of the older Sears/Generac generators, from 900 watt to 4000 watt, near as I can tell. It is (was) sold under Generac part no. 79569.
Other part nos. are 00728293, 28293, 28293GS, 79569G--for the same part. "GS" is a Briggs and Stratton suffix used when they acquired the Generac portable gensets division. Hope this helps someone!
