International Harvestor made some vertical famous marine engines. Were marketed in the deep south. I have a catalog.

Detroit Engine Works, Olds, Gray, Dunn, Knox, Ellsworth(think this one might be primarily marine with some stationary),

Gray Engine Co. of Detroit...the eventually dropped the stationary engine line and became Gray Marine.

No one has mentioned the "C" word, they were mainly marine but did build stationary engines. Who, are they~!

No, not Cushman. This company made more marine than stationary. They are known for there marine engines.
