The earlier Cushmans were all spoked flywheels and they continued the Model C with spoked flywheels fairly late. In the early 1920s, Cushman started making solid flywheel engines - the Model 21 Type X, the Model BB and the Cubs - they made the Cubs from 1928 until 1952. The Bean engines referred to in an earlier reply were in part the Bean Special Cubs made by Cushman for the Bean Sprayer Co. Jim

I am a little late finding the trivia section of smokestack. Union Gas Engine Co. of San Francisco CA built vertical sideshaft stationary and marine engines in the 1890's thru 1930's with solid flywheels as well as straight and curved spoked flywheels in the same era.
