Here is an unusual engine sighted at a recent rally. It is a twin cylinder Edwards low-tension engine. It was very difficult to start but ran well. The twin ignitors are tripped internally by trips on top of the pistons!

Patrick:
The Edwards engines must be one of the more unusual "independently engineered" engines of which more than a handful were made. I restored one for a friend a couple of years ago and documented the "unusualities" of the Edwards when I did the work. You can see it on my website. Glen:
Use just about any modern oil. I used 30W detergent and set the oilers to about six drops a minute. I was told they need to be run sloppy on oil because the big ends are lubed by the same drip oilers that do the bores and wrist pins. Don't forget to keep the oil wells in the mains wet and give the governor and gears a squirt once in a while. Take care - Elden |

Glen:
You are welcome to copy any of the Edwards information off of my web page. All I ask is that, if you copy my photos and/or text, you credit me with them. BTW, that is the extent of what I have on Edwards engines. Take care - Elden |

Glen:
I thought about pulling the starting strap from the front but the gas tank, fuel line and float bowl are in the "line of fire" and I didn't want to damage 'em. A good idea would be to wear a helmet and face mask when starting the beast. Take care - Elden |

I just looked and found the one uploaded by "pileofiron". If that's not the one, give me a link. I can put you in contact with Frank, the owner of the Edwards I restored. He's got what you see on my site. Please P.M. me and I'll give you his email. Take care - Elden |

I found it! Thanks! That's a nice looking early ignitor Edwards. I don't feel so bad about the one I restored now. It runs like the one in the video. I guess that when they are loaded they will settle down. Take care - Elden |

You can get ignitor points from several sources found here. One of them is Lee Pedersen.
