I spoke with John Tichenor who maintains a registry of Long Model A tractors (I work for long). John and another fellow restored that tractor for the Smithsonian and said that they had to go through a 3 month background check and sign paperwork in triplicate before they could start on it. That is the oldest mass-produced internal combustion engine still complete...in the world!
