You have a model 82. This one came out before the model 92 single that most of us are familiar with. These are a little harder to come by. The base should have 5 ears on it. One of them is usually broken off. You can find more info at www.maytagclub.com

The model 82 does not use the same magneto as the 92s. The flywheel and the mag are different. The 82 was prone to severe bearing wear, due to its design, and the mag and flywheel making contact was usually the last clue to the bearing's destruction. This also meant that the mag and flywheel were going to be wiped out as well, at the very least, the mag core would be magnetized rendering the mag useless. The model 92 was the longest production of an engine without a major design change - 1917 to 1959, with engines continuing to be assembled from parts stock, until 1963 - when Maytag sold off all its engine inventory.

Default Maytag 92 dates of manufacture

The model 92 Maytag engines, (the single cylinder kick start engines) were in regular production from September 1, 1927 starting with serial # 219717 through the first part of August, 1937, ending with serial number 804444.
