I have a J model Lister gas engine Sn 7901. It is badged as a 2.5 hp and stands three feet tall with 2ft dia flywheels and a Bosch flick type magy. Can any one please tell me the age of the engine?

There is a comprehensive dating guide for Lister and other engines on our web pages, url below.
The J series s/no 7901 would probably be 1914. The list starts at no 2220 for 1910 and the next year listed is 1915 at 11982. These are start of the year numbers. From this, 1914 looks to be as good a guess as can be made.
