Default Briggs & Stratton Z base

Hello. Here is one for all of you Briggs experts. I just purchased a cast iron base for my 1939 Z. It is part number 61287. The part number on the broken base match the replacement one that I purchased, but the replacement one has gusetts on the mounting ears. The old one is just flat. Anyone have any info on why this is so? THANKS
