Default Kohler K91.

Hello, I would like to get some information on my Kohler K91 engine... it is stuck and in need of work. Is it a common engine? When was it made (Sn. 4292xx)? what is the HP?

If you have a complete one could you take a few pictures and post them it would be a great help!

Thanks

Default Kohler K91

I have a few questions about my kohler K91, Are the bolts that hold the muffler welded on? I was trying to remove the nuts that held the muffler on and the bolts twisted off about a 1/4 inch from the engine block? Any idea as to the age of my enine S/N 429215?

More questions soon

Mac Leod, Dont beleve they are welded in orginaly, but Im sure they are rusted plenty tight! Most of the Kohlers had the exaust port tapped with a pipe thread so you can screw a muffler in. Sorry I cant tellyou about the age.

The K-91 (4 HP) does not have the exhaust port tapped like the larger engines. The mounting bolts are studs screwed into the block. I have had some success removing broken ones by mig welding a nut to the remainder of stud and turning out with a wrench. The heat from welding will usually loosen them up. Don't know about age, but the later K series were assembled in Mexico.
