Default Chainsaw Identification Requested

I recently found this chainsaw in an old garage. I cannot find any marks on it anywhere. I would like to know the brand name and anything else anyone knows about this chainsaw.

Your help in this manner is greatly appreciated.

Ron

Bring it to an old Homelite dealer, they may be asble to help you. It doesn't look like any of the homelites from the 50's. Might be from the 60's, it doesn't have the reduction gearing like my 20mcs

ron, i dont know that kind of chain saw you have, but it has a type ah 47 power products engine on it. it had a aluminim tag atached to the air shroud by two rivets or two pan headed screws. some times the factory also a id tag on one of the six screws that hold the engine together, but only tells information about the engine. you might look in a old chain saw service manual, sometimes they have pictures of old saws in break downs. you might be able to go to the local library and find a book. i hope this helps ron, luke.

My guess would be Mall/Remington c. 1960 or maybe Outboard Marine? But I should probably just say I don't know and shut up. I will look through what material I have.

I have a Homelite 2 man (see post) I also have one of their first model one-man (1949) a 20MCS with "holy" bar and a 1958-59 7-19. They were all red except the last has some green. Mall was organized in 1920 (we have a 2 man and one man plus an electric one) and taken over by Remington in June 1956 and name changed within a year.

See post further down the topic list, with photo, the Homelite 2 man is a model 24X2, SN 278736, it is equipped with a Lombard Governor (but is a HOMELITE) model GS 1172. Homelite came out with their one man saw, the 20MCS, in 1949, so it obviously predates that.

I saw 200240497806 on ebay last night so finally looked up the Lombard chainsaws, something I thought I would never try to own. OK OK egg on my face I am wrong, just couldn't accept that I had bought a Lombard, as the Lombards and the Linns, from here in Morris, NY, were former friends turned enemies. I will get a bit of harrassment about this now. Although the Lombard Governor Co. was located in MA the family was from Waterville, ME and that is how they financed building the log haulers up in Maine. (see Lugs & Cleats thread about the Linn tractor).
