Default Avery and Twin City

The photo shows, in the upper half, an Avery I had titled as a 25-50 but I think I'm wrong....I think it's a 40-80. The lower half of this pic shows a Twin City...most likely a Twin City 40.

Probably not the right place for this but I just wanted to give everyone and anyone that wanted a look at my Avery 18-36 project. It is one that I am giving up on and would like to let someone else take wack at it. It is 3 tractor remains that will make one complete one with the exception of the cam tower. Have looked high and low for anything available, have asked a few guys for the chance to look at one or borrow one for a pattern but have come up empty-handed. You can email for more details. Gary

Craig,
Never let a steam guy tell you anything of importance about gas tractors, but I'd bet what's in my pockets that you've got a 40-80 and a 40-65, just like you said.
Gary

Craig here: Sooooooo..........lets talk about those pockets.....................

Craig,
This "steam guy" grew up with a pair of 25-50 Averys. It's definitely a 40-80 or an early 45-65.

Keep asking for a loaner to use for a pattern for a new casting. Remember that cast iron shrinks about 1/8"/foot. If you use an original for a pattern the new casting will be slightly smaller. The smaller part may or may not matter for your application. If the shrinkage matters you need to build your own pattern. I've been amazed at the offers to borrow parts and patterns while I was restoring my steamer. Good luck.

Craig,

If I'm not mistaken, that building behind the Avery is the sawmill at Crosby, ND. I do believe that is the 30-60 Mogul sitting to the right of it. Also, I think the Twin City is at the same place with the same Mogul sitting to it's right (not enought of the mogul visible to be sure.)

The Mogul behind the Avery is a 45 Mogul and the Mogul behind the TC is a Mogul Jr. 1 cylinder.
