Heres a picture of my Grandfathers Sawyer-Massey from around 1950's. They are a wonderful machine, quiet, dependable, strong, easy to maintain etc.. The extra belt pulley was to run a belt to the back of the platforn to run a buzz saw to "circle" slabes of wood for the firebox.

The tractor in the bottom two photos looks like a Minneapolis 25 HP farm motor to me.

Greetings all:

I believe the 20-60 Sawyer is located in Holland. Is this correct John. It was sold out of Ontario some years ago.

Brian,...........where did your grandfather live, what was his name and do you know what became of the engine?

We sold our 20-60 in 2001 after having been in the since new. It was built in '15 and languished at an agents warehouse until my grandfather bought it in '25. It threshed commercially until 1958. Grandfather had a run farms that consisted of as many as 70 farms in a season, often barn threshing with a foot or more of snow on the ground. He had a set of lugs [Sawyer item] similar to a set of mud spades that he used in the winter, just one row per wheel. We still have the bill of sale for the engine, and grandfather's log book for all his threshing jobs.

Robert
