Default What would you do? (Briggs)

I could use a few opinions on what to do,I've been working on starting my Dad's Briggs engine collection. The problem I find myself in is that one of the FH models was missing the flywheel and the carburator.I took and reworked a flywheel from a model Y and built a carb. The engine now runs pretty good but not perfect, now for the problem. While digging around Dad's garage I found what most likly is the original carb.,should I put the original on or leave my home made one on?What do you all think?

Thanks for your opinions; Mark:

Mark -

Strictly my personal opinion, but I like having my engines set up with the correct parts...they're worth more that way as well.

I would definitely re-build the original and try and make it work if at all possible. My 2c worth.
