Default Fiat

This Fiat tractor is in the "Tired Iron Museum" in upper NW NY State at Leicester. The museum was founded and owned by the late Bump Hamilton. I am not sure if the museum is still operating.

Is there any chance someone could find out the serial no. of the Fiat 702 in the Tired Iron Museum for me? I have not been able to find an email address for them, and thought one of the forum members might be visiting there in the near future. The number should be marked on a brass plate fixed to the side of the radiator - you can just about make this plate out in the top photo that Craig posted.

Many thanks

David

I tried scanning the serial plate at ultra high resolution but the photo just isn't sharp enough....the lighting conditions there were lousy...

But try these numbers: 585-233-5138 or 585-382-9736

And try a visit here: http://www.geneseony.com/museums.asp

Thanks for trying Craig. As far as I know though, the serial no. should be seven digits and start with a "7".

If I remember right, about 25 or 30 years ago, the people from Fiat came over and tried to buy that tractor from Bump. I think it was the oldest on record at the time. They offered him big money, but he wouldn't sell...Ed

Ed,

That's very interesting - I know that Fiat celebrated quite an important anniversary around that time (early 1980s?). They must have managed to buy a 702 from someone, because they brought one over to London as part of their anniversary celebrations. It was fully restored and used in their advertising at the time alongside a modern tractor. I must get in touch with Fiat and find out more about their tractor, and let them know about ours too.

I believe a Fiat 702 was tested at Nebraska, so I wonder if this could be the same one that is now preserved in the Tired Iron museum? Can anyone shed any light on this?

All the best

David
