Default Another Ebay lookalike scam

I was 3rd in line for ebay item # 7119146293, about 2 days after the auction ended I got a email from Ebay (sure looked like it was from Ebay) for a second chance auction, that the item was still avilable and if I want it for my last bid I could have it. It seemed strange so I emailed the the contact person on this email and asked why it was avilable to me as the 3rd bidder, What happened to #'s 1 & 2? they wrote back saying that both had made errors and were unable to buy it. BUT there response was very poorly written and badly misspelled. "not that I am a good speller myself" and the original listing it was very well discribed and well written. I sent it to spoof@ebay and withen 24 hours they wrote back and said it was indeed a scam. These people are getting better and better every day, So watch carefully and use your instincts if somthing seems wrong, I think it proberly is. Happy holidays Mike

I agree Mike, they are getting better and thats why I send all questionable emails from eBay and PayPal to ebay@spoof.com and paypal@spoof.com.
Now if we could only get eBay to add some user friendly features that would make life easier for the buyer like, the option of just reading sellers negative feedback, discontinue the "Private Feedback" option which I take as the seller is so bad he don't want anyone to read the negative feedback and most of all they need to start protecting the buyer and enforcing seller rules and quit making the buyers suffer!

I have never used E bay, my wife has used it several times and has made out alright but I don't trust the whole thing very much. I have bought a couple of items from private individuals thru this site and have never had a problem. This past summer I purchased some IH M parts from a gentleman on this site, Mr. Witte. He was great, the parts were just what he said they were and I got them real quick. It was a real honor to do business with him and if he ever can use any help from me he's got it. Maybe I am wrong but I feel most of the folks on this site are very honest and I know they are helpful. About the only thing I do when looking at buying from someone here is to check and see if a person uses this site a lot and has a lot of posts. I figure if a guy is answering folks questions and trying to help them with engine problems then he can't be a bad fellow. Just my two cents worth. Happy Holidays and thanks to all those guys who answered all my dumb questions this past year! Dave

P.S: Mr Witte those governor parts work great. Thank You again!

The correct addresses for reporting possible spoofed or phishing emails are
spoof@ebay.com and spoof@paypal.com

Bob, ebay gets paid by the seller. so, they will always protect the seller more than the buyer. always remember, ebay is unbelievable greedy, if they can find a way to squeeze another dime out of you, they will.

I also got a email offering me a chance to buy a early German toy of a Otto engine. I think I was pretty far down the list of bidders. The scammers sure are busy. John D.
