Default Witte question

I just got a head type Witte it must be a early one as it has a Bosch occelating mag. Did thease ever come with a buzz coil like the headless did? Also when I put gas in the carb bowl and crank it sucks the bowl dry in about two pulls on the flywheels even with both needle valves closed. Crack or hole somewhere? Here is the buzz coil setup on a 2hp witte B that I had at one time...It now belongs to my father...He got it for Chirstmas a few years back...I don't know if it is factory or not, but it sure looks good and will kick you if you don't retard it before starting...We have a new fuel tank to put on it and some wheels to put under it...

There are two bolt holes drilled in the side of the crankcase, right behind the cam gear, where you can mount an ignition trigger wipe... but you've GOT to be able to retard the timing to crank a Witte, or it will try to take your hand off! Strong little buggers! But I like 'em.

I also recently purchased a Witte Model "B" 2-1/2 HP (SN B4772). It also has a Bosch Ocillating Magneto. When I got the engine it was in "restorable" condition. Over the past month or so I've torn EVERYTHING down to the last nut, bolt, and screw, glass bead blasted almost everything and am getting ready to repaint, reassemble, and then try to get it running. One Item which I am worried about is the Mag. It would barely turn when I got it. After taking it apart I found that most of the problem was the oil. It had turned into about 1000 weight glue/grease. The Armature primary had a resistance of just under 1 Ohm and the Secondary was about 2380 Ohms. I haven't had a chance to test mine for spark yet. But I was wondeing if You had any luck with yours. By the way My Magneto is labled FO ED-3 V1. What type is yours? Have you found a sorce of info on these Mags?
