Default Need B&S Governor Help

I need help in reattaching the carb linkages to a Briggs & Stratton engine. I got in too big of a hurry during the disassembly phase and now I cannot seem to get the linkages back correct. I think I have the spring correct from the bottom of the 6 inch long rod to the carb throttle shaft itself. I cannot determine how the air vane governor was attached to these linkages. A manual throttle cable will also be attached to the bottom of the 6 inch long rod. The engine ID plate has these numbers on it, Model 80302 Type 943235 Serial 6009260. Refer to this link for a pic.. www.maytagshed.com/B_S_governor.jpg
Thanks for any help!

Marvin, I can't see everything I need to see to nail it down but I'll try for you.. First off a solid link must go between the Gov. arm and the throttle shaft and that most always has a spring over that rod and hooks in the same holes as the rod at each end ( rattle spring )
Next a light spring will attach to the throttle shaft and go down to a bell crank or attached arm.. Then the throttle cable or adjusting rod will attach to the arm.

The best thing to remember with Gov. setups is: The Gov. has full controll of the throttle shaft and the throttle cable ASKS for more speed through the spring.. The Gov. gives you what it wants and the top RPM is set by how much the light spring pulls the throttle open while against the Gov.

Hope this is right and helps.. Randy Hart Ohio

Missing link goes from governor vane hole to the outer hole of the throttle arm. With the vane exactly vertical and the throttle in normal running position (almost closed) the link will be exactly vertical. Photos in the old service manuals.

Thanks for the help. It looks like I may have missplaced the link from the governor vane to the throttle arm.
