Question 6hp IH "M" big tag info needed

I have a 6hp IHC "M" with the big aluminum tag. The tag has just about worn away so the only thing that can be seen on it in the stamped serial # 22309 which I think is a 1922 model???? This is an ignitor fired engine that was converted to spark plug, I'm now in the process of putting it back to ignitor. I think the big alum tags are or have been reproduced, but by who? where can I find one? any ideas guys?

Doug; I bought one for my 3-HP M from Starbolt. Its an excellent reproduction. All you have to do is drill the rivit holes and stamp your numbers. Have Fun with your Engine Craig

That's the same I did, here is an example to see the very good quality of these tags.

Question Re: 6hp IH "M" big tag info needed

Thanks for the information on the big tag. Now I've noticed that the M serial #'s that I have seen all start with a letter. Was the letter stamped stamped like the #'s???? Or??? The number stamped in the tag is 22309, am I correct on the year 1922? Thanks, Doug

Yes Doug your serial# has to be C 22309 for ignitor fired engines and was made in 1922.

Thanks John, Here are the 2 "before" pictures. This engine has alot of the original paint left, I've been carefully cleaning it and will paint it with 50\50 boiled linseed and mineral spirits. Hopefully some of the original decals will be visable underneath the dirt, grease and grime. I will post the "after" pics as soon as it gets cleaned up. Thanks again, Doug
