Seriously, though, I noticed that the magneto is 90 degrees off the line of the crankshaft. Is it a right-angle drive? And, is the mag gear new?

Oh, yes - I did see the dirty finger gesture. North of the equator, we consider that to be offensive but, bein's that you are unfamiliar with our customs, we will forgive it...........OR was that a comment about the mixer on your 1A?

That jesture is just Particks signoff to OSHA on the glass gas tank near spark source.

The magneto is driven straight off the crank gear via an idler gear. The magneto bracket is a new casting made off an original and the gears are new. I will take a better picture of the bracket. As far as is known these brackets were only fitted to the export engines as we do not know of any in the USA. The bracket has a F-M part number and is mentioned in the parts book.

Patrick,

That is a beautiful engine. A friend of mine has promised to sell me one similar when the right time comes. I don't know the exact number but it is an Eclipse with two flywheels and a magnito. Please tell me what the differences between the 1 and 1A are and if there are other 2 flywheel models so that I will know the next time I see the engine at my friends place.

This is a No.2 Eclipse. They are a lot bigger than the 1 and 1A.
