Default 8 HP Reid runs again!

After being idle for who knows how long & sitting outside for 25 years Reid #656 started & ran for 20 minutes today! Have to get some water plumbed to it now so I can run it for a longer period. It was a long process but the mechanical symphony was worth the wait!!! This is a "before" pic. I'll have to bring the digital home from work & get an "after" Bill Klein

How did you restore it on that cart that's sunk into the ground?

Well I guess I could put some history on how an engine still 8 inches in the ground is up and running.. Well My Dad bought the engine in 1974 and had it in the garage in about 1982 he had pulled it outside and in that time frame had some health concerns the engine sat by the house untill the year 2000 when I asked if I could do something with it. My dad said if I wanted to get it going and get it nice again to go for it. After some cleaning and painting outside by the house It came back to life again. The Engine now resides back in the garage and the cart is all cleaned up.. Its a fun engine to run and is one of the easier starting ones we have... I am very fortunate to have My Dad and his engines to play with as he bought in the 70's and didnt pay a great deal for them...

I don't have any coolant in it yet Randy so I have only ran it three times for a total of about 40 minutes. It runs nice & slow but only hits every other time. I want to fill it with antifreeze & try to fine tune it someday soon. Bill
