Johnathan

If the tag says "Model P" it is the 1920 vintage. A most sought after engine. look at the BS site. http://www.edgeta.org/engnotes.htm There is no photo of the "P" engine but there is a photo of the "PB". This site is a very helpful guide to the years of engines and equiptment.

Nice find !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you get the engine finnished and painted, contact the people at EDGETA. I am sure they would like a photo of it.

Jim,
I found a picture of the tractor from when i bought it at a show , I am going to downsize it and then post it here. The Serial number is P 4329 but I have been able to find out when it was built.

Jonathan:

This is almost identical to my Bolens tractor. Mine has a drive chain from the engine PTO to the cross shaft. I'm missing the toolbox and the lever/linkage that actuates the clutch mechanism.

Unless someone out there has these parts, guess I'm going to make them.

I have an American Farm Machinery Corp. two wheel tractor with the engine in the wheel like a Kincade. It has an engine that is nearly identical to my PB Briggs except it has a rotary magneto.Did the model P Briggs have a external mag or a flywheel magneto ? This engine had cooling vanes cast into the flywheel like my PB .I would be interested in an comments.Thank You !

Jim, the engine you describe sounds like early Toro 'Estate mower' engine. it would interchange with a PB. storming in central Texas-Joe Fisher
