Default 1965 RC2-60 Mustang

Hi guys, a friend was telling me about this Mustang and gave me some pics. Has anyone else seen this one of a kind experiental FACTORY 1965 Mustang Fastback with a Wankel engine? It's tagged RC2-60 on the front fender and is sitting in a museum in Indiana. The pics were taken three weeks ago. The display board says it is a RC2-60, twin rotor 240 CI, 185 HP @ 5000 RPM. The car was mated to the engine by Curtis Wright for Ford. I can scan the pics and post them if anyone is interested. David.

I've always wondered why the Rotary engine concept was squashed by the "Big 3" ....LOTS fewer parts, acceptable mileage, less vibration. etc.
Mazda was successful with their's in the RX7 for many years. Yea, they had a learning curve but they sold a bunch of them.
Maybe Detroit was worried they couldn't maintain tighter machining tolerances?

Thanks Harry
