Default Paint Removal

I got me a new toy to play around with last September, an early Associated Hired man engine. I got it on a partial trade, kind of sight unseen. I just knew it was a two piece hopper so I said to my self, What the heck?
The engine ran great except that it was converted to T-Coil & spark plug and had a God awful coat of brown paint. I nearly cried when I saw the paint! But the worst of it was under the brown, what seems to be brown latex house paint: A wonderful coat of bright Case "flambeau red" (Case orange) paint in every crevasse, nook and cranny. Well, I started stripping. I am using aerosol automotive stripper (Furniture type stripper wouldn't touch the orange) and being very cautious not to leave it on long enough to remove the precious original paint under it all, I have found a diamond in the rough. This is going to be a very long and enjoyable project!

Spark plug & Model-T Holly carb.

Some where deep under all that crud was this beautiful red hopper & silver jug

Nice engine Ugly color. I found out the hard way that carb cleaner removes paint very quuickly I used it to help clean the carbon out of my briggs model b cylinder head and some leaked out. There went that paint job. Good luck
