Default John Deere Pumpjack

We have a 1 1/2 HP John Deere engine and a John Deere pumpjack that we would like to restore and show. John Deere made a small channel iron frame for the pumpjack and the engine which allowed the pumpjack to be driven directly from the end of the crankshaft/flywheel. We have the engine, the channel frame and the pumpjack but do not have the coupling which goes between the engine and the pumpjack. Does anyone have this particule coupling either for sale, to reproduce or to photograph so that we could duplicate the item? I can provide a photo from an original John Deere brochure if needed. If you check ebay item number 7127775144 you will find one of the original brochures with a photo of this setup on the front cover. Thank you, Tom

Just a note to thank everyone who responded to my ad, many of which were directly to me. I have two excellent leads on both the new style and the old style couplers that were used with the John Deere engines and pumpjacks. Tom

As long as you're on the pumpjack subject: A customer brought his E engine magneto in for repair. When he picked it up he asked what's a 1 1/2 worth? THEN he said he has either A or THE pumpjack for it. I asked if it is a JD jack or not and he does not know. I told him if it IS a JD jack it probably has JD casting numbers all over it. I have never SEEN a genuine JD pumpjack. Would SOMEONE please post a pic???

There is one for sale on ebay. Its will say " John Deere" on the flywheels, you will also find the same model with " Dain manufacturing" on the flywheels also. I'm not sure which one is harder to find or how long they made either one of them.

I clicked on that eBay link and it appears that there was a problem with the auction, could have been another scam?

I just bought a restored pump jack like the second photo above at portland this week. It has the raised letter of John Deere on the flywheels. But it dose not have the channel frame. Did that pump with the belt pulley use that frame? and how did it belt to the engine pully? I am wanting to make what ever i need to show it with the 1-1/2h.p. engine and use my 1B corn sheller on the 3h.p. engine. Now all i need is something to run on my J.D. 6 H.P. engine. Any sugestions? Thanks for any help.

Shellers run easy on engines. You could easily run your sheller on the 1-1/2 as well. I have a 1-hole McCormick-Deering sheller that the 2 hp Taylor engine pulls just fine at an idle. What you need for the 6hp is a Letz feed grinder which were sold through the JD dealers. They are fairly common and could make your 6 hp engine work as hard as it wanted to or you could feed it easy and let 'er run for a bit

I guess what i learned from your photos is that there is more then one way to run the pump jacks. One being a direct coupling to the engine. another being something similer in that the flat belt pulley couples to the flywheel. And i would guess if you didn't want them connected at all you could just run a flat belt on the two pulleys. In the photos there are two cast parts. i know the one is the mount at the top of the sticks to conect to the well pump rod. What is the other piece. Clamp for the well pump to the pump jack?
