Default Savvy eBay seller :-)

Just had a funny ebay story I thought I would share. I recently found a piece of engine related memoribilia that I was very interested in. The item was set to end Sunday night, in the price was at about $10.00. I put in a bid of $30, which casued it to increment to 12.51.

On Friday nite, the item was no longer listed. I contacted the seller, and he told me someone offered $25 so he sold it! I also told him that I had bid $30 that I intended to raise the ante to $100 on Sunday. Needless to say, he did not reply to that.

Needless to say, they both violoated eBay policies, but he cost himself some money.

This is going on all too often. I have people that advertise items on my auction page that openly admit that they will take down an auction if a "good offer" comes in. Needless to say, I take down their ad too, sooner rather than later.

About the only thing you can do is turn it in to eBay, but there probably isn't much eBay can do about it either. They make the process available in case the item is "lost or broken" during the auction. Prove it!

A majority of bids don't take place until the last day or even the last several minutes. I've seen eBay items jump to BIG $$$ the last few minutes.

How do you get a "SNIPE" program, I think that is what they call it. How or where can you get the program??

i see alot of ebay listings that say for sale localy. i think that just gives the seller the chance to end the auction early without recourse. just my 2 pennies. bernie.

I bid on an item, and I was the high bidder, but didn't meet the reserve when the auction was over so it didn't sell. I contacted the seller and his reserve was like $50 more than my bid. I bought a reproduction part that didn't need any work, cheaper. The seller then listed the same part later on without a reserve, and sold it for $50 less than my offer . OH WELL....
