Question Case SC appoximat value

Hello , I have a 47 case sc tractor ! It runs , but needs attention ( Valve job , and one rear rim to start with ) but the tractor runs and drives fine ! sheet metal is all there and in fair condition . and tires are all up !
My dad knows a guy who was bugging him about buying it for the last year or so and he stopped in today ! He ask me for a starting point and I told him $500 and you woulda thought I slapped him in the face by his reaction ! I thought $500 for running tractor was fair , but he made it clear he didnt ! Im not really a tractor person , but $500 I thought was a fair starting point ! After his attitude about it , he couldnt buy it for $1000 now ! I never placed the tractor for sale , never really wanted to sell it , he approched me , then got mad at me for my price ! Was I out of line ?? What does it wieght ? scrap is up now just kidding

Better than asking :"how much gas is in it?"
Seriously, that tractor should be worth around $600 or more IF the sheet metal is decent. Tire kickers are not only plentiful but notoriously cheap so don't worry about it. BTW: Scrap is actually down a little again......

An interesting part of this hobby is the fact that many manufactuers had variations of just one model like solid or spoked fly wheels, for instance take the Case SC with a centerline exhaust , probably worth considerably more, of course depending on other options as well

Kind of like the difference between an IH McCormick WK 40 and a WA 40. I'm not sure how many people know the difference or that there even IS a difference. At any rate, the difference is a WA 40 is worth as much as a WD40.

If he didn't like $500.00 You can go up to maybe $1000.00

I haven't seen to many tractors that were not worth $500 running. Do some advertising, I have sold SC tractors for more that needed restored and had bad tires. As time goes on and the reported "Great Resale Value" the Deere and other guys love, bites them in the behind, because it is not always a sellers market and sometimes you are buying, then they will be turning to the lesser known brands. Case tractors have increased in price over the last few years, and I am in a position to know.

Any Running Tractor is worth $500.00! (look at the price of a lawn mower and what do you get)
