Talking Whatsit part...Chevy but what

Well, a friend gave me a goodie box of stuff that he had on his hit and miss engine shelf. Since he is out of the hobby more or less, he figured that i would have more use of it. I was like a kid on Christmas day! Then I dug this part out. I wire brushed a little on it and found the numbers....348602.......62.....and a chevy emblem. the thing is 2-5/8" in diameter with a 19/32" center hole and 2 1/4-20 holes that are 2-1/8" center to center and it has a raised boss on the back around the center hole. Its made of cast iron. I have no idea what it would be. Maybe a distributor mount of some sort? Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks!
