Clinton ceased homeowner sales in the 1980s, but continued to make engines for educational and commercial usage into the mid '90s, I believe. H heard that they were bought out by an overseas outfit, but don't know if they are still being produced. The later ones had ignition parts and carbs that were interchangeable with Techempseh engines.

My memory of Clinton engines is not pleasant. When we bought our last place up north, a rototiller with a Clinton engine was abandoned there. Like a true iron-aholic (and cheapskate) I took the pathway of repairing it so I could use it. Talk about beating a dead horse to death! I got parts for it (late 1980s) and got it running but in a year, I placed an order for a Troy-Built Horse with the Briggs engine. No regret and I still have the Troy-Built today.
