If there is not a local dealer in your area, I would suggest you contact Generac direct in some areas it is very difficult to find generac dealers and help.The engines they use for the most part on that series were briggs and straton.

Generac 4000 generator info?
Some Generac owners manuals can be downloaded at
<http://www.generac-portables.com/service_support/owner_manuals/owner_manuals.cfm> You will need the exact model number, since they produced several "4000" generators over the years. For example, one version of their 4000XL is model number 1645-0. Another version is 9777-2. George- I just noticed the date of the original message. We're a little late! Fred
