Default Rust Removal

I found this link on one of my favorite military firearms sites on rust removal and would like to know if anyone has ever used it.It seems kind of hard to do for me and don't know if it is anything like the electrolsis method. www.btc-bci.com/~billben/rust.htm

In my humble opinion, a solution of lye at 270° is very dangerous. Even if I were to try it I would not put it in a coffee can on top of the kitchen stove!

The guy says nothing about protective apparel. Some poor schnook out in cyberland it apt to try this technique without the protection of goggles, full face sheild, rubber apron, etc. I shudder to think of what could happen.

Other than that, the method sounds plausible. I might try it, some day, but will be very careful.

Orrin,We spend too much time worrying about protecting stupid people and this allows them to have kids who are stupid. If we would let them rely only on common sense , and this didn't work ,then it would stop that gene pool from multiplying "Pretty soon, the only dogs left are the ones who learn to stay out of the road!"Sounds interesting to me Benny.I saved it and may try it sometime. I agree with you, Chip, but look at it this way:

If we allow someone to foolishly blind themselves by splashing hot lye into their eyes, they'll become disabled, unable to work and unable to pay their medical bills. You and I and all the other sensible taxpayers will support them for the rest of their lives and their kids until they become legal age.
