Arrow Hey guy's....could i get some help here..

me and dad went engine hunting today and found 3 very old engines, one of the engines wich is a WI Briggs was on a very old reel mower, first of all, i would like to know what this reel mower and engine set up is worth, JUST CURIOUS..thats all, the engine on the reel mower is like i said, a WI, made in october of 1941, it is one of those lever start things, not a kicker, has a oil bath, throttle controls and blade inguager for the reel mower, the mower is belt & Chain driven hooked up to some kind of a what do you call it? a throw out clutch?...it is a thing that slides back and forth to enguage and disenguage the engine to the blades, the reel mower is red and white and has a name ROCKET on the wheel hubs, the engine also has a bisket muffler, the muffler and everything appearse to be all original and the mower has been very well tooken care of from the looks of things, everything is free and not stuck, well oiled machine, though a paint job couldn't hurt it non. our second find was a orange Jacobsen, 2 cycle, odd round lookin thing, has a round blade on the bottom with pointy blades all around the circle thing, i didn't see any numbers on the engine but i found numbers off of the deck and words and it says:
Jacobsen MFG Co.
serial No. 3418-26562
i would like to know what year and worth of this mower is and also need it's air filter wich is missing, it has a tillotson carb on the 2 cycle.
the second mower is a Clinton, 2 cycle aswell, the numbers off of the engine are:
THE CLINTON MACHINE CO.
SERIAL NO. X 443796 K
MODEL NO. V 5200 161
this engine is red and has a dome head wich is a non removable cylender head. there is numbers from the engines deck to and the tag reads on the deck:
POWER MATIC
ROTARY LAWNMOWER
MODEL NO. 1816-2C
SERIAL NO. 31177

MFGD. BY POWER EQUIPMENT, INC.
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA

again, i would like to know what i have here as far as worth and stuff, and rareity. i would also like to know who sells jacobsen parts becouse i plan to restore these 2 cycles, i also need a air filter for the jacobsen, the original is gone, i also need a breather cap for the WI becouse it is gone,...other than that, these 3 finds are perty much compleate.

Thanks for you all's time and help and believe me....this will be very much apreciated what info i do get out of it.

Thanks again!

Sky, the first mower with the Briggs would be a Rocket made by Eclipse. They were made with the WI and then the 5S Briggs. Don't have any idea about the other two.

The 2 cycle Jacobsen wae probably built in the mid 1960s. The disc acted like a flywheel, and the engine with a big disc would take a while to slow down. What diameter disc does the machine have? Aluminum or steel deck? does the machine have a provision for bagging? Recoil start, or wrap a rope? If recoil, is it ratchet and ball (similar to B&S - they were sued for patent infringement!) or toothed cup and pawl (built under license to Techumpseh). The Disc type Jacobsens were the smoothest cutting rotary mowers of their day, rivaling the reel type mower! With the blower fins attached, they could suck the rocks out of your driveway . I owned seversl of these units, 1) A 18" cut self bagger, that used a plastic box for collection, that had a cast aluminum deck, had the techempseh type starter (1967). 2) A 30" cut monster, with a steel deck (with 4 blower fins, it could blow a wall of leaves 3 feet high!) B&S type starter (1961-2?), 3) 2 - 22" cut mowers, with a Jacobsen license built Techumpseh 4 cycle engines on a cast aluminum deck (1968 and 1970). These mowers all cut very well. The small triangular blades were reversable, to allow twice the use before sharpening! Auxilary blowing fins could be added to increase underdeck air flow. The 18" machine actually out-performed a 18" Snapper, we had - it was lighter, did a much better job of picking up debris, and was easier to dump the catch bag when full! Draw backs - you could not run with these machines, a slow walking pace was needed., Also, when the mower was equipped with the auxillary blower fins, you could not leave the machine running un-attended, at full throttle - it would literally rip the grass out by the roots . Some interesting info can be had by looking in the Gas Engine Magazine, backissue Vol. 24, #4 (April - 1989), the artical named 'Smokers'. If you need specific operating instructions, or parts info, give me an Email.

Hi, i forgot to menchine that the jacobsen has a carter model N carburator, atleast thats what it says on the carb......both the 2 cycles have a rap around pull rope method for starting, the jacobsen doesnt look like it has any bagger attatchment and has an aluminum deck, the 2 cycle clinton had a steel deck but sadly im gonna have to scrap the steel deck out becouse it's rusted out.
i was wondering were to get jacobsen parts,...i need a gasket kit and a carb kit and a air filter assyembly,...the original is gone.

Thanks for all your help all!
