Default Hellwig Auction Results

I was wondering if someone could tell me what the 4 HP tank-cooled, side-shaft Mogul sold for on the Buzz Hellwig auction today. From the photo on Nixon's site it looked like a real nice engine.

I think the Rumleys went for about $11,000. Wasn't standing by when they sold but that is what I was told. The Industrail Iron Works went for $7,000, 4 hp Mogal $11,200, 3 hp hopper famous was around $5,600 I think. There were many writing down the prices of the engines so I would imagain they will show up soon. Most of the engines were pretty much in the needed a lot of work area. The usual was taken off of them like oilers and mags, some had them but not many. Prices seemed to be ball park for the most part though a couple of 4 hp binders went way over $700 range and the upright Monitor, not restored but all there and with a bit of clean up would run went for a whopping $900!!

Thumbs up Re: Hellwig Auction Results

I got 2 Witte's. One missing Wico mag and oiler it is a drag saw engine. The other has a home made carb and is set up to run on a buzz coil. So really it is missing the Wico and the oiler too. Paid 300.00 for the first and 75.00 for the second one after a gentleman bought the trunks it was sitting on and did not want the engine. It was really great weather, got lots of sun.

Thanks Tom!!! NOW I can sleep tonight!! Having NOT seen the Rumelys those seem like some very respectable prices considering the ad said "original". But those engines sure brought some high-test prices!!! At least I think so.......

I was there, but rode with someone that wanted to leave and didn't get to see what the "D" JD brought, anyone know off hand?

That witte with the hmoemade carb was GREAT for me....I bought the starting crank out of the hopper for $25.00..........It was one I have been looking for that is an original 1 and 1.5hp Sparta Economy Starting crank!!

TIM CHRISTOFF----E-mail me so I can get your new address. Did Mike M buy the Faultless, or did you see what it brought? Pete was interested in the $$$$'s it brought, and so was I.

That auction was a Nixon auction so all of the selling prices should be up on their web site in a week or so. They seem to be one of the better sites for getting results posted.
