Default Fm-z, 1.5hp, Governor Disassembly

I HAVE A 1.5HP FM TYPE Z ENGINE WHICH i AM TRYING TO REBUILD. HOW DO YOU GET THE 12 TOOTH GEAR OFF OF THE GOV SHAFT? IS IT THREADED ON?? tHE SHAFT IS WORN QUITE A BIT SO i WOULD LIKE TO PUT BUSHINGS IN IT.

Hi Dave, The best I can remember is that the Gov. Weights You have to hold them and they UNSCREW... Standard threads left for OFF, They are Probably real Tight May have never been off since factory..Larry

Hey Dave, Check the archives, there was some discusion on this in an earlier post. I took one apart this winter and it unscrewed like Larry said. Mine came apart pretty easy. Be careful not to break the weights or the yoke when clamping/holding it. I believe that was the info posted in the archived thread. The shaft and the gear are 1 piece. I have a 5 hp ZB gear that I could not seperate. I gave up for fear of breaking it. Some day I will re-attempt, it needs a bushing also.
